Ok, so I watched this a tiny bit when it first aired. I gave the first episode a shot, and maybe some of the second episode. Hated it. Could not stand it at all. I hate just about everything "western" and anything in that time period (not in a major city), so it makes sense.

After I finished the last round of BSG, Torchwood and Doctor Who in Netflix I needed to watch something to tide me over until the BSG season comes out. I decided to give Deadwood another chance since one of my friends (wrylab) LOVED this show and was constantly trying to get me to rewatch it.

Holy fuck, did I miss out on this show. It is fantastic. I am just about finished with the first season and I am floored by how much I enjoyed watching this. There is really not one person on this show who doesn't deliver a great performance.

Anyone else a fan?

YES!!!! I refer to people as hoopleheads at least twice a day. It's especially funny to me because I work with a bunch of hoopleheads, and canned peaches are a big seller in our vending machine.

It took me a few episodes to get into this show. I also don't like westerns very much, or that time period in general. It's fantastic show though, one of my favorites.

I haven't seen it, but I thought that HBO just cancelled it instead of actually finishing the show. Is that true?

No, they knew it was going to be the final season and wrapped it all up at the end. Too bad, because I think if it would've gone on longer, the last season would've ended much better.

Great fucking show. Shame it got canceled with so much of the story up in the air.
