Suspiria (2018)

Post by shiki-jitsu »

I want to hate this but goddamn this looks good.

I'm annoyed that they are making it look like it was made in the 70s, but I am glad they are keeping the setting in that time. This looks good and the word is that it is pretty brutal.

(Didn't we have a thread about the remake? Where did that go? I remember bitching about Thom Yorke being associated or whatever.)

I'm  right now because I remember the shit fits everyone was having when this remake was announced and now everyone is all...uh, this looks good.

It does, it does look good. And I LOVE that it looks so '70s. It looks even creepier because of it.

It's going to be better than Argento's version.

I'm thinking I might make one to keep in the trunk of the car though. Might be nice to have hot water if I ever have to watch a Matthews compound for 3-4 days hoping to get the drop on Sergio Frenchi. - Neon Bolan

Ok I finally watched the Suspiria remake.

Fuck I was REALLY liking it up until the last 30-40 mins. Then it all went to shit. Like seriously bad. Cheesy effects, bad directing just corny as fuck. Also doesn’t know when to end.

I really don’t understand a lot of the seemingly arbitrary changes throughout the movie and a lot of missing iconic moments that I don’t think should have been lost in the remake. Can I even call it a remake? Yes the shell of Suspiria is there but it’s all kind of different.

Wow, so I was finally able to find this streaming a year-and-a-half after I asked for help. Thanks the fuck a lot for that by the way. I guess we're here to criticize Argento remakes and not help each other out so much, eh?

anywho, I watched this Sunday night and I liked it. I liked the hell out of it. I used to hate Argento, but this year I watched several of his big movies over again and came out a fan. And the funny thing is, the movie I like least of his is Suspiria. I really expected it to be the crappy Jennifer Connolly movie but seriously, the monkey butler spoke to me, and Suspiria's at the bottom because of it. But this movie is now one of my favorite remakes. It's up there with Dawn of the Dead 2004. Is it perfect? No, but neither was the original. Tilda was awesome, don't pretend she wasn't.

Okay get Rob Zombie on the phone stat.

The next Halloween has Dr. Loomis running around with a monkey butler that has a collar which translates monkey talk into English. .

There is a lot to really like about this movie. I just absolutely hated the end third. :(
