I'm thinking I might make one to keep in the trunk of the car though. Might be nice to have hot water if I ever have to watch a Matthews compound for 3-4 days hoping to get the drop on Sergio Frenchi. - Neon Bolan

I'd disagree that it was forgettable 5 minutes later. That would be the sequel after this one, IMHO.
Diary of the Dead was an interesting 'comeback' film for him, and I thought it was okay for what it is. Mixing the new renaissance films of the genre he broke open in the 70's with the modern 'found footage' craze was ambitious, and he pulled it off.
The next one, the one with the island and the ranchers, that one made absolutely no fucking sense and ruined whatever credibility as a director he had gained from this one.

This was the one with the student filmmakers and the RV. The next one is the soldier who somehow goes to an island in the Atlantic that's all horse ranchers and somehow they're all Irish. And they all ride around on their horses and it's a whole big stupid thing for some reason that never made sense.
I wish Romero hadn't gotten trapped in the zombie genre and had ended at Day. I think he had some good shit in him, as I really like The Crazies and Knightriders.

I don't know. Honestly, I think he's kind of a hack with some good ideas. I liked Dawn, but Day got kind of hinky and Crazies was kind of just another zombie movie at the end of the day.
