Bird Box on Netflix

Post by Alien Redrum »

Anyone watch it? I know Dan did.

Great film. Really follows the book almost to the damn letter.

This very well might be an add to my best of 2018. I really dug it.

I'm thinking I might make one to keep in the trunk of the car though. Might be nice to have hot water if I ever have to watch a Matthews compound for 3-4 days hoping to get the drop on Sergio Frenchi. - Neon Bolan

Something is making people go crazy when they look at it.

Do you mean the Japanese Ring, or the American Ring?

Ah, it was a copy of The Happening all along! I liked it, just watched it. Didn't read the book, but the movie seemed pretty good. I don't think I liked it as much as AR though.

I would have liked it regardless, but it gets mad bonus points for how closely it follows the book. That definitely amped my enjoyment because it's so rare when that happens.

Don't get me wrong, I thought it was a decent movie and I really don't think it was a rip off of The Happening. Unfortunately, I think there's been so much hype for this movie in the mainstream press now that I fully expect a lot of 'meh, it was okay' type reviews and comments to come out now. I don't read any 'news' about movies but just seeing a lot of posts here, fb, etc. about it over the last couple weeks, a lot of them in the ZOMG category, which I don't think was really called for.

Does the book every theorize or explain what the monsters are? Or is it like The Road where we never learn what's going on because the characters never learn what's going on?

Nah, you never know. I'm fine with it because the story is so good and I don't really need to know. It just happens.
