You’re like a speck of glitter in the steamer Kangas left on cinema’s chest.

This. ^^

Some people make movies that only speak to them. It's not Kangas' fault that's what he does.

Found A Return to Salem's Lot on Amazon (I think it's with my Starz subscription).

Holy SHIT, this is bad. Like...real bad.

How the fuck did Larry Cohen direct this. I think it's another Larry Cohen.

So, catching up on the stuff I watched. First off was Hostile, a film that showed at Frightfest a few years back and one that I missed because it was on one of the smaller screens. A sort of one-location post apocalyptic thing that tells its story between the present and flashbacks. While they seem mostly padding, it becomes clear why the flashbacks were necessary by the semi-cheesy end of the film. :3stars:

Next up was Bingo Hell, which I had high hopes for given Stuart's Review but I got very little out of it. Too much of a talking shop (literally nothing happens other than dialogue in the first 35 minutes) and not enough horror. It looks nice and it's good to see older actors being cast but overall a bit flat for me. :2stars:

Finally, I went against my gut instinct and watched All Hallows' Eve. This is the previous film to Terrifier, written and directed by Damian Leone and featuring Art the Clown - although here he's played by a different actor. If I was ever in any doubt that Leone is a talentless hack with zero writing ability, this solidifies what I already suspected from Terrifier. It's a Halloween anthology featuring three stories and a wraparound. What makes anthologies great, usually, is that they have compact stories that each have a twist or a clever ending. Here, they're seemingly there just to lead to a final scene where Leone has had an idea for a particular special effects sequence (did I mention he also does the FX for the film?). Absolute bollocks. :1star:

Watched 30 Days of Night again. The first time I saw it, I didn't think much of it, but after multiple viewings, I like it so much more.

The vampires rock, the story idea is great, Mark Boone Jr and Ben Foster fucking bring it, and the lead vamp is bad ass.

The only thing that bothers me is it suffers from that stupid 'flash cut' fight scenes that were so prevalent at the time. But overall, still a very good film.

The story was absolute garbage. There were some scenes I enjoyed. Still not sure how I feel about Anthony Michael Hall in it

He's absolutely perfect for this role.
