School me on...
Okay, since I picked up Nashville Pussy and The Creepshow, I found that I really like that rockabilly/punkabilly/whatever style.
So school me on this genre. Who should I be looking for and/or who would I likely dig?

I'm thinking I might make one to keep in the trunk of the car though. Might be nice to have hot water if I ever have to watch a Matthews compound for 3-4 days hoping to get the drop on Sergio Frenchi. - Neon Bolan

The Cramps. Though I assume you are atleast somewhat familiar with them.
I can also send you over a Brickbats CD, they are definitely in the psychobilly camp with a goth lean since they sing about monsters and ghouls, etc.

The Cramps I have heard of, for sure. Not heard them, though, surprisingly.shiki-jitsu wrote:The Cramps. Though I assume you are atleast somewhat familiar with them.

Brickbats sounds fantastic. Psychobilly is the word I was trying to remember when I started this thread.

Re: School me on...
I will upload buy you a copy of a Brickbats album tomorrow. They are more deathrock, so I don't know if they will be entirely what you want, but they were a good band, and I think you might like it.
There are a lot of other psycho/rocka/wtfeverbilly bands out there though. I don't know much about the genre because I generally don't like it.

Wrong and need to be schooled. Zombie falls pretty strictly into the Hard Rock/Metal categories. Despite how much he might want to, he doesn't really hit any of the ____billy categories.LivingDeadGirl wrote:Two words: Rob Zombie

QFT. I love Rob Zombie, but the only thing he has in common with the psychobilly genre are his lyrics.shiki-jitsu wrote:Wrong and need to be schooled. The Meteors, pretty much the guys who started the psychobilly genre.

King Kurt, who even had some charting hits.

The Quakes, US psychobilly.

Batmobile, Dutch psychobilly which has achieved a degree of fame in the scene.

Reverend Horton Heat, THE American psycho band.

Try some of the early Stray Cats. Not psycho, but good revival rockabilly with punk influences.
