Can someone please explain to me the appeal of Hatchet?

Post by Alien Redrum »

Okay, I just finished up the second one for review. I found it fun, but not overly impressive.

I even gave the first one (which I originally detested the first time I saw it) a rewatch in order to prepare for the sequel. I didn't hate it as much as I did the first time I saw it, but I still don't get the absolute ridiculous amounts of hype that surround this series.

Anyone?

(Note, I'm not saying Green is a bad director, either. I quite liked Frozen. But this massive blowjob he gets for the Hatchet series is completely beyond me. It's fun, sure, but good god, it's not the end all be all of new horror.)

I'm thinking I might make one to keep in the trunk of the car though. Might be nice to have hot water if I ever have to watch a Matthews compound for 3-4 days hoping to get the drop on Sergio Frenchi. - Neon Bolan

No, I can't because I hated this movie too.

Did the sequel have 317 on the soundtrack?

Yeah, the effects were pretty sweet, but that's seemingly what the whole movie is. And that's fine, but shit, that doesn't make it special at all.

I totally forgot that, I should check.

Can't explain it either. I think it tried too hard to live up to its own hype. And failed.

Does the film have any more death scenes like that?? I do LOVE excellent physical effects. That animated gif reminded me of Rob Bottin.

I've heard they're making a third one.

I thought the first was superfluous fun, but the second was horrible. Danielle Harris was terrible in taking over the role and the effects sucked compared to the first. A gigantic step down.

See, I felt the opposite. The first was terribly overrated, but I did enjoy the second.

Just finished part II, thought it was "OK". I liked the first one a bit better.
