First three Stray Cats LP - s/t, Gonna Ball and Rant'n'Rave with the Stray Cats are awesome. In the US, the first two LPs were issued only later, in place of those there was a mash-up compilation called "Built for Speed' which includes the self-titled bonus track. First and third album are more punky, while Gonna Ball has more country/rnb roots in it. After that, only Blast Off! is worth owning, the rest fades away in a hurry.

Setzer's solo stuff, outside of Orchestra, sounds like Springsteen mainstream rock americana (or at least it did with the first couple of albums, namely Knife Feels Like Justice which is an OK record). Cats' bassist Lee Rocker has some pretty good solo work with his "Big Blue" band, and Rocker and drummer Slim Jim Phantom had an 80s side project called "Phantom, Rocker & Slick" with Earl Slick on the guitar.

First time I saw him was on a Beavis and Butt-head episode. I liked what I heard. I think I'll have to check out more of his stuff.

WTF?

Nashville Pussy has nothing to do with this genre. They are Amphetamine Southern Rock...think Rose Tattoo/Motorhed/Ted Nugent.

Nothing, repeat NOTHING to do with psychobilly. Although they FUCKING RULE.

To get to the roots of Psychobilly check out The Sonics

Or Hasil Adkins

Or hell, even Gene Vincent and Link Wray.

Nothing beats the Cramps though. Most others are piss-poor imitations.
