Fright Night remake

Post by walls »

The Vampire film scene has been a little hard to swallow for me except for a few films, and now I have one to add to the shelf of beloved vampire films! Even though this is a remake it is IMO really well done and a lot of fun. So I will now adjust my top five Vamp list....

1. Salems Lot
2. Lost Boys
3. Stakeland
4. Fright Night (remake)
5. 30 Days of Night

The original Fright Night was on the list but it just doesnt quite hold up.

Anyone else have a Vamp list???

Really? I wasn't a fan of the original particularly, but the remake was just a bit blah. David Tennant was good (if extremely influenced by Russell Brand), but overall there wasn't much to this new version.

Really? Hmmm.. IMO it was quite fun and compared to just about ANYTHING vampire lately I thought it was enjoyable enough. And honestly Tennent was my fave in the film!
Maybe the lack of your love for the original has you tainted??

I think in recent times Stakeland takes the cake but in the very least this one adds some gore and doesnt turn into a love story. lol.

Literally just finished 30 Days ..... may push it up a notch.

Think it's more my lack of love for films that are 'meh' if I'm honest.

Interesting list. I don't have a vampire list. I'm surprised Salem's Lot is #1, although I haven't seen that for a few years. Ditto for Stakeland, that was an interesting movie and I want to watch it again. I'm assuming you're leaving the Twilight films off because it's just assumed they're in the top spot.

Salems Lot freaked me the fuck out when I was a kid and I still watch it around Halloween time every year.

Twilight be the HIZZUH!!

I wanted to see it when I was a kid, but couldn't. So I saw it like 9 years ago, and it wasn't bad. I'd say it probably held up as well as Fright Night though, which is still an enjoyable movie. Did you you the Salem's Lot remake?

Nope never saw the remake, might have to look it up someday.

There are a shitload of vampire films but not many I care for. A lot of them are all moody/artsy fartsy and shit and i tend to like my horror more balls out violent and bloody.

I should add that Lost Boys and Salems Lot only edged out Stakeland because of the nostolgic, and the more I think about it Dusk Till Dawn really needs to be on the fave list.

I put a post in here, that apparently didn't save.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the romantic vampires or artsy fartsy vampires. Those just suck. Dusk Till Dawn was okay. I liked it a lot when it came out, but it gets old for me. Still way better than the sequels though, I couldn't take any of those.
