Gramps, I think you might dig this. Old school EBM sound.

All 80's tonight. Letting the playlist spin. (A bit off for me since I've been in the middle of a gigantic 90's nostalgia kick the last 5 years.) (Except that I go on 80's benders all the time.)

Currently, it's Genesis - "Tonight, Tonight, Tonight."

Before that it was:
Stevie Nicks - "Edge of Seventeen"
Berlin - "The Metro"
Huey Lewis & the News - "Workin' for a Livin'"
Debbie Gibson - "Out of the Blue"
John Mellencamp - "Rain on the Scarecrow"
INXS - "Need You Tonight"
Hall & Oates - "I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)"
Heart - "What About Love"

NICE list!

I've been listening to a lot of Outrun music the past few months. I couldn't tell you any names but Mitch Murder, but I like the music all around.

Mitch Murder is not a name I'll soon be forgetting. (Thanks. And thanks for the suggestion.)

As for me, I've been pretty much ignoring the new music this year. I often wait for Slant Magazine's Top 25 end-of-year list and check that out (2016 had some amazing stuff that I guess got lost since the major publicized act was The Chainsmokers; the Bieber's of '16, along with Shawn Mendes... I don't think I'm ever going to be a fan of either.)

But... Katy Perry apparently is coming back this year. Obviously, despite me liking "Hot n Cold" more than most people, her first 2 albums stunk (yeah, that puts me sharply at odds with the stupid storm of praise she got for 2010's Teenage Dream- I think she even swept the Grammy's or something with that dud of a record) (or the AMA's, or the People's Choice Awards- I dunno which) and I didn't think her 3rd would produce anything much to change my mind that she was a mediocre kiddie substitute for Lady Gaga (who, until her latest album, was anything but mediocre) but she completely won me over with her 1-2-3 string of excellent singles: "Dark Horse," "Birthday," and "This is How We Do."

Then she came back in February with a smash...conceptual lead-in to her next album. I'm not a big fan of it but there is actual quality in "Chained to the Rhythm." It's a real package deal with the music video, which is better than the song. Some critics disagree and love the new single. I could use something more.

But as of last-week, she has a new Vevo-uploaded preview for "Bon Appétit" (with Migos) and that is a lot more my liking. It's no banger but it has legs. I'll get more into it as the year progresses.
