TV episodes with great movie homages.

Post by Alien Redrum »

I just started watching Community, and they had a fantastic episode paying homage to Goodfellas (down to shots similar to Scorsese's).

That reminded me of the Burger Bob episode where they paid homage to The Warriors. Definitely more subtle than the one above, but I really liked both.

So I'm trying to think of more. I thought of the Freddy Kreuger one on The Goldbergs, but that was just okay.

I'm thinking I might make one to keep in the trunk of the car though. Might be nice to have hot water if I ever have to watch a Matthews compound for 3-4 days hoping to get the drop on Sergio Frenchi. - Neon Bolan

The Goldbergs have done hundreds if not thousands of them somehow. I don't remember the community one, which episode was that?

I thought the Highlander Goldbergs was pretty good. It was based on a true incident where they created a Highlander Club at school. They got Clancy Kurgan to play the shop teacher who sponsors the club. I thought it was all stupid BS then at the end they show the video of the kids in the real club beating each other with fake swords while yelling there can be only one

This is the goldbergs I miss.

Yeah, upon reflection, Goldbergs definitely did it a lot, but it's also kind of the schtick (like, he wants to make movies, so it plays on that).

I guess, the more that I think about it, I'm talking about shows were it's out of the norm.

Here's the episode in Community.

I meant to reply to this. I'm gonna read this article once I'm finished with Community.

This show is so good, and I can see a lot of Rick and Morty in it.
