Anyone watch this?
Finally finished it up the other night and was pretty impressed. The gore is over the top, and the CGI blood is comic-book-like at times, but, man, there is a lot of grue.
Vinnie Jones was fucking awesome as the killer, and the ending was pretty spectacular. I saw one thing coming, but the other thing took me by surprise.
Here's to hoping Barker doesn't make us wait another 20 years or so.

I'm thinking I might make one to keep in the trunk of the car though. Might be nice to have hot water if I ever have to watch a Matthews compound for 3-4 days hoping to get the drop on Sergio Frenchi. - Neon Bolan

Re: Midnight Meat Train
I saw it awhile back when Fearnet was showing it as a premier. I think you liked it way more than I did. I don't remember a lot of it anymore, but I thought it had cool parts and lame parts, and was in the end forgettable.

I liked it as well, Jones with a big ass hammer...who could want more??
Also it followed the original short story pretty much to a T.

I dug Vinnie Jones, but didn't really care for the rest. Kitamura really excels when filming objects, but he can't handle filming persons, human interaction. He has slick visuals down to a T, but because of this MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN lacked some grime and texture for my taste. It felt too sterile.
Waiting for what? He has written and published quite steadily for the last 20 years.Alien Redrum wrote:Here's to hoping Barker doesn't make us wait another 20 years or so.

I agree, it wasn't grimey, but rather over the top gory. It took me a bit to get used to how almost comedic the blood splatter was, but once I did, I really enjoyed it.K' wrote:I dug Vinnie Jones, but didn't really care for the rest. He just signed away the rights to his short story. Wake me when he directs again.Alien Redrum wrote:

Re: Midnight Meat Train
Oh, I agree it would be nice that he started directing again, but him being (what appears to be) pretty involved in MMT is a cool start.

Barker's produced quite a bit in the last 20 years, he just doesn't sign away his short stories. He's directing the upcoming Tortured Souls: Animae Damnatae and developing Thief of Always right now.
