Oppo getting into the Ebook market.

Post by Alien Redrum »

Our friends from OPPO are launching an Android e-Ink reader to be dubbed Enjoy. I know it sounds corny but as a marketing ploy it will probably work better than OPPO can ever expect. But they have to price it right, somewhere below $300 or lower. OPPO has been in the PMP business for sometime. Late last year, they announced an Android smartphone that boasts a multitouch screen.

The OPPO Enjoy looks like a 6-inch E-Reader with buttons right, left and below the screen. There’s nothing much you can do about E-Ink readers except add buttons and maybe a QWERTY keyboard
or, as in the case of the Barnes & Noble NOOK, a secondary colored screen for navigation. I say for an e-Book Reader without huge store backing like with the Kindle or Nook, stick to a simple, thin design and price it as low as possible.

I'm very happy with my Sony, but I'll definitely take a look at this when it's time to upgrade.

I'm thinking I might make one to keep in the trunk of the car though. Might be nice to have hot water if I ever have to watch a Matthews compound for 3-4 days hoping to get the drop on Sergio Frenchi. - Neon Bolan

That doesn't make sense. Under $300 or lower. So, they may have to pay you somehow?

I agree, I'd definitely check out the Oppo when it's time to replace, but if it's like a lot of the other Chinese readers out there, it will either lack file formats or it will lack DRM capabilities.
