Recently watched a 1984 kung fu flick called "Furious". It had Simon Rhee in it, but the majority of it was a mix of randomness and hilarious fight scenes. I couldn't help it, I had to upload some of the fight scenes, including the jaw dropping finale.

Unknown, which I'd give a solid 4/5 for Liam Neeson badassness.

And Killer Elite which I expected to be an over the top action fest, but ended up being a pretty damn good espionage thriller with a smattering of ass-kicking. 4/5

I liked Unknown, too. It's no Taken, but it's solid. I liked Real Steel for the cheesy fun, though the beginning is tough because all the characters are kind of unlikeable. But the robots are fun, and not as annoying as Transformers.

Does Shark Night count as non-horror, because it's silly and kind of fun in a low-rent way, but not at all scary.

Black Moon Rising 1986

Tommy Lee Jones, Linda Hamilton, Robert Vaughn, Bubba Smith

just hearing Bubba Smith call Tommy Lee a "mutha fucka" is worth it.

Just watched "Now You See Me". Excellent movie! Loved the tricks and the plot flowed nicely.

This week I managed to see more movies than I've seen in ages.

Saw "Riddick" in theaters and watched "A Good Day to Die Hard" on DVD.

"Riddick" was good -- better than "Chronicles" but not quite to the level of "Pitch Black." The characters weren't as well fleshed out, which took away from the tension. It's pretty easy to tell the cannon fodder from the main characters, especially if you've seen the trailers. (The trailer for "Pitch Black," of course, was a major spoiler, so I guess it's an ongoing issue.) You guys remember I'm a sucker for sci-fi/horror crossovers, so this was right in my wheelhouse, and if it has plenty of flaws, it was worth the $10 for the ticket and I'll pick it up when it hits BR. I'd say 4 out of 5.

I went into "A Good Day to Die Hard" with very low expectations, and the movie lived down to most of them. It's a fun, brainless action flick in a lot of ways and it isn't a terrible movie... but it's a lousy "Die Hard" movie. The big thing, which most reviews touched on, is that John McClane is no longer an everyman. He's a lot more of an action star in the way he's portrayed in the action sequences. And that's really disappointing. The kid who plays Jack is a dreadful actor, which doesn't help, and the villains were thoroughly unmemorable, which is again very much against the "Die Hard" formula. 2.5 out of 5.

I loved Pitch Black and actually liked Chronicles quite a bit and really want to see Riddick. I will wait for the BLU though so its gonna be a while for me.

Django Unchained - I think I'll give it a solid 3.5/5, but I had to watch it in two sittings as it was just far too long.

I loved Django Unchained. I want a linen suit and for everyone to call me "Mista" when I wear it.

I'm thinking I might make one to keep in the trunk of the car though. Might be nice to have hot water if I ever have to watch a Matthews compound for 3-4 days hoping to get the drop on Sergio Frenchi. - Neon Bolan

Man I hate when a movie is just too long, took me at least three sittings to get through each of the LotR's and two sittings for the newest Batman, which I didnt like.
