I'm thinking I might make one to keep in the trunk of the car though. Might be nice to have hot water if I ever have to watch a Matthews compound for 3-4 days hoping to get the drop on Sergio Frenchi. - Neon Bolan

I was confused.... I wasn't sure if this was a prequel, or a remake. It really looks like the same movie. But, regardless. I want to see it anyways, because it looks awesome!

Saw it at the cinema last week. It wasn't bad, but not as good as I had hoped. CGI is a mixed bag; mostly bad during the first half, but later creatures look quite good. For my taste too much information about the Thing's origins where revealed and the protagonist was kinda bland.

I watched a screener of this at the weekend and was initially of the common opinion "bad CGI". Then I watched the extras. The filmmakers have committed a bigger sin than bad CGI, as they've actually created some incredible practical effects and then ruined them by tweaking the look with CGI.

The two-head spider monster thing is about 90% practical, although you wouldn't know it from the film. The arm creatures are also practical FX but have been rendered and animated in CG.

The FX artists must have been gutted to see their work ruined in the final product.

I really hate to hear that. CGI ruins everything.

The Thing - Latest Version

Post by Neon Maniac »

I'm sure there was a thread about this movie, but I couldn't find it.

I watched this tonight, it was pretty good. Not as bad as I'd thought it was going to be. It was an interesting watch, but I don't think it's going ot be one I'd watch again and again. I also thought it kind of went over the top with tyring to explain or show too much. Like we really don't need to go inside the alien spaceship. I kind of liked having the mystery of what happened to the Norwegians, so I didn't think this movie was all that necesssary. Still interesting and I'd recommend a rental. The CGI wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

I dont use the home theater much anymore myself, probably one out of every ten movies I watch I use the system. I used the headphone surround option on my reciever one late night with my Senn 650's........ almost always watch movies that way now. Its pretty fucking awsome.

The last place I moved into was too small, and this place doesn't have the area I need to do rear wiring properly and not have it look horrible. I've got my center and two big fronts, I'm happy with that. Thought about hooking the subwoofer up, but after moving I think I might just trade it for pot. I'm sure there are people that will take it for that.

End table? Foot rest? Step stool? The options are endless, no need to chance a meeting with the PoPo over some shitty skunk weed.
