Official The Thing (2011) Trailer
Fuck the naysayers. This looks fun.

I'm thinking I might make one to keep in the trunk of the car though. Might be nice to have hot water if I ever have to watch a Matthews compound for 3-4 days hoping to get the drop on Sergio Frenchi. - Neon Bolan

absolutely
Re: Official The Thing (2011) Trailer
Agreed!
And I would totally go straight for Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

Interesting.
Is this a prequel of what happened to the Norwegians, or a reimagining of some sort?

Re: Official The Thing (2011) Trailer
IIRC, it's a prequel that leads up to the beginning of The Thing.

well, you say that, but it looks basically like the same movie, right?DJBenz wrote:I'm glad they went that route instead of trying a remake/reboot/reimagining of Carpenter's remake.

I didn't even like Carpenter's remake and all I want to do after this trailer is re-watch it.
(I assume the naysayers you refer to are all Carpenter fanboys.)

Fo sho.
Disappointing, too, because from what I've been reading they were going to avoid CGI.

Re: Official The Thing (2011) Trailer
Aviod CGI???? Come on man, even head shots in Romero films are now CGI, Hollywood has found a cheaper way to make a monster. The original.....no wait......the original remake.......still holds up to this day with traditional effects. I dont have anything against CGI if its done well, as it makes some films ROCK. And this could have been a fun flick but if the CGI is "SYFY" distracting its gonna ruin it for me.
I was really hoping this was gonna be up there with the Chainsaw and Dawn remakes.

Re: Official The Thing (2011) Trailer
That was really crappy CGI. I went in thinking it couldn't be that bad. Yep, Syfy quality - at best. I didn't realize this was being made by MTV films. This makes sense now. They're cheap bastards, and your average teenager has no muscle mass or testicles, so can be frightened easily by badly rendered cartoon images.
