Last House on the Left remake

Post by Alien Redrum »

Just watched the trailer (it looks to be riddled with spoilers, so if you've never seen the original, I suggest you don't watch it).

From it, I gathered this is more of a re-imagining than remake, although the main themes are definitely there. Now, it's been a while since I've seen it, but didn't
Spoiler:
The mother know her daughter got fucked up because Hess (or one of the cats) was wearing the necklace? I swear I don't remember the daughter turning up, as shown in the trailer.
If I do remember it correctly, and that's how it happened in the original, then all I can say is LAME. THANK YOU FOR DUMBING IT DOWN, DICKHEADS!

Either way, though, I'll definitely check it out (most likely on DVD) because Tony Goldwyn always seems to deliver.

I'm thinking I might make one to keep in the trunk of the car though. Might be nice to have hot water if I ever have to watch a Matthews compound for 3-4 days hoping to get the drop on Sergio Frenchi. - Neon Bolan

Dumbing down aside I think this one looks good. I'll definitely check it out.

It can't be any worse than David DeFalco's 2005 crapfest: CHAOS

I want to check it out but I will probably wait for DVD, from what I remember reading the re-make downplays the rape and attacks on the girls, and focuses more on the revenge with the parents. I believe it was originally supposed to be PG-13 as well, but dont quote me on that. I think toning down the gore can help and hurt the film, since making it gory will automatically draw comparisons to the sensationalism of the original. I think they can focus on the story and tastefully make it scary without trying to outdo Craven and just make it abusively gory.

I think Tony Goldwyn's a good actor, too. Plus, he often plays villains and looks like the (anti-)hero of this one if I could interpret the ADD-trailer right.

don't know I'm curious about it but but the trailers seem to ruin the payoff at the end that the original had. I don't think they should have marketed it as a revenge film just as a torture film instead.

I want to check it out, mainly because the bad girl in the movie is a hometown girl. Her name's Riki Lindhome and her brother is the drummer in a band that plays gigs around all our local bars.
