Thinking about it the main thing that's really making me angry about the show right now is just how crappy their locations are.
Yeah. No shit. That's a big bonfire, man. Fuck all that.Neon Maniac wrote: ↑Thu Feb 18, 2021 5:36 am 4.
That must be weird moving into someone's home and having all their pics and stuff there. I think I'd take down all the photos and personal things. Maybe throw them in the backyard.
I feel like I should be mad, but I love him so much, I just might.Pretty sure you should cosplay Tom Cullen at some point.
Oh, that's a good point! It doesn't change my mind on liking the change, but damn, I have something to think about. Here's the other thing about Nadine and the Ouija - in the story, she's a virgin. In the book, that was a big part of her weird character. Same in the movie. She wasn't saving herself for anyone, she just had no use for it. Nadine was a big ball of oddness. Here, she's a virgin because she's been saving herself for Flagg her entire life. It kills an interesting component of her character. This Nadine isn't really nuts at all. Nadine was fucking nuts. And Flag had latched onto her in the apocalypse mainly because she was the hottest virgin, and something special because she was an adult. These are components that are now made mundane.
I liked it for a few reasons. One, it was a surprise (and I do believe people would totally do this in an apocalypse). But it also shows what an absolute bitch Harold is and how awesome whatsherface is, the one they sent to Vegas. The trucker they encounter... that whole scenario reminds me of something out of walking dead. For chrissakes, people aren't doing this shit. They're having dreams and anyone doing something like that would be Flagg's BFF.
I just can't. On so many levels.
It totally throws away all the work Harold put into planning and getting everything together. It loses impact because HEY LOOK HOW EASY THIS WAS. They SHOULD have shown the work and research he did, to show how focused he was.AND JFC AGAIN! They were given snow patrol coats so that Harold would see the pamphlet about explosives... Because if you're a Millennial or Gen Z, you don't know how things work and can't figure shit out on your own, so you need stories that provide learning paths. They just couldn't believe that Harold would realize the county uses explosives, because they don't realize ALL counties have explosives. OMG DYNAMITE IS SCARY AND NOBODY EVER USES IT!!!!!!!!!! Fuck those bitches.
Did you see Farris' final stand yet?Yep, this movie is rushing to an end game. We don't meed Judge Farris until they pick her? And Tom Cullen has had all of 40 seconds of screen time. This is what you get when you have so far at least 2 rape scenes added just for apparent fun.
Agreed on Shawnee. She was better at being hateful. Like..I don't know. I can't articulate why her hate was more serious and not jokey.I did kind of like their encounter with Not Shawnee Smith better, but I wish it was Shawnee Smith. But they were taking a break in a warehouse of some sort? What? Is this more cheap locations?
Is that Stephen King in the bus ad for Hemingford Home?
This bothered me too. I mean, I'm fine with the actual shooting because it's no and different. But Nadine shooting him is problematic and against character. Nadine never did anything bad. Her goal was to get to Flagg, and that's it. She never hurt anyone herself. She might be responsible for some shit, but she manipulated. Her character in the book simply would not have done this.Nadine just shot the weird friend. What? Why is the ski patrol in downtown Boulder? They'd be up on the mountain, especially if they were storing explosives. Why would their fake police be patrolling there? There's so much just to that scene that is WTF worthy.
HOLY FUCK! I THINK YOU'RE RIGHT!!!! That's TOTALLY a cruise ship.Neon Maniac wrote: ↑Thu Feb 18, 2021 10:35 pm 5.
I think their Casino set is actually an old cruise ship set. Definitely not a hotel or casino.
Holy shit, I didn't know that! I liked her. I also liked when Lloyd totally threw her under the bus. I legit lol'd at that. (You might not have gotten there yet, but it's NOT a spoiler in any way shape or form. It's just something funny as shit that happens.I didn't know that rat woman was Brad Dourif's daughter
Very true. Drug users were fucking crucified. Literally. All those people partying? 100% dead in the book. He had no time for that shit. Because I distinctly remember when the first people from Boulder hit Vegas, they were surprised how orderly it was. They thought it would be exactly how this series portrayed it, but it wasn't. It was far more organized than even Boulder at that point. Flagg had his shit running smooth.Okay Vegas just kind of pisses me off. This Vegas was specifically talked about in the book and it was about how this was not going to be the Vegas that they had. Pflag has a shitload of rules, he sees each of these people as a resource for him to use. People weren't just hanging out partying people were working non-stop 14 hour shifts getting shit done for him. Especially weren't killing themselves in fights and gladiatorial tournaments because they were his resources and they were not to be treated that way. Do you remember the cop who was one of Flagg's people? I believe he was someone else who did not have dreams, but chose to be there on his own. This would not have been his town, his town was the fascist work city, not the drink and do drugs all day and fuck people in elevators publicly city. The whole thing about Vegas was they were evil but they were trying to make it look prim and proper. This is what drew a lot of people in. This is actually kind of like many of the Florida towns that love Trump too
I'm honestly not going to be happy until Flagg talks about how us truth-tellers just sort of hunker down. Furniture's for liars. On this I agree
What do you mean by this?Their walkie-talkies are driving me crazy. It's like they never heard of walkie talkies past World War II.
Holy shit, wait. WAIT!!! What happened to Lucy??? Is Lucy in this? Do I need to rewatch it? Remember in the book/first series he was shacking up with Lucy and when Nadine showed up, Lucy was fully expecting Larry to roll out? WHY IS THIS JUST DAWNING IN ME??So Larry won't have sex with her because of Joe? Did anyone tell Larry that Joe doesn't need to know that they had sex? That whole scene was all BS. -53 points from Hufflepuff
Could be because of conserving energy until everything is running right? Just kidding. Lazy filmmaking.so the lights are on in Boulder and in Franny's house there are lamps on but there are also candles still. In the dining room where they're eating and in the kitchen there seem to be electric lights but walk out to the foyer and it's all candlepower again. How inconsistent can you be about something that major? This is seriously an asylum movie.
If I see him fly one more fucking time...Flagg's penthouse is a lot cooler in this one
Yeah? WTF is wrong with Tom just leaving like he fucking did in the movie/first series. She saw him in both of those and know what she did? NOTHING. Nothing at all except get mad that they sent him. That was dumb for sure.why the hell would she give Tom Cullen a note? My eyes almost popped out of my head they were rolling so hard.
Now the Flagg spellings are explained.this has all been voice to text by the way. If things don't make sense you need to figure it out yourself. Since you're not a millennial or gen z I bet you can do it
More accurate than you know.Franny's trapped Stu into raising the baby with her. I'd go on a long walk to Las Vegas too.
No, don't be mad! What I'm saying is if you ever had the compulsion to cosplay or dress up like that for something, you'd nail Tom Cullen. I think you'd be great.Alien Redrum wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 1:31 am

In an apocalypse, laws yes. Like the Walking Dead. But this isn't the walking dead. This situation is 180 degrees in the other direction, different. Nearly everyone here has a calling. If your compulsion was to do something like set a rape trap, Flag would be all over you and you wouldn't have the chance to set rape traps because you'd be a lieutenant in Vegas. This is what I'm saying. It makes zero sense in the context of the book. Also, so far every scene they've made up deals with rape. The book isn't rapey at all. The series? Rapey as hell.Alien Redrum wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 1:31 am I liked it for a few reasons. One, it was a surprise (and I do believe people would totally do this in an apocalypse). Millennials and Gen Z can't do shit without google. I think that was their way of googling the info to him, because they don't understand how to figure things out, without google. They couldn't show the research, because they don't know how to do research. This is my theory anywayAlien Redrum wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 1:31 am It totally throws away all the work Harold put into planning and getting everything together. The only person we've actually seen die here is Harold shooting himself. Ossie Davis rocks. They should've just CGI'd him back in instead of some old white woman. I don't think this Farris even spoke a line, did she? You just see her actions. And they last maybe 20 seconds across 3 scenes. What a throw away character.
Shawnee was mean, plain mean. New Shawnee's just a vapid party girl. She's Shawnee light, like Pimp Lloyd is Lloyd light. I honestly think these millennial/gen z writers don't understand mean people.Alien Redrum wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 1:31 am Agreed on Shawnee. She was better at being hateful. Like..I don't know. Yeah, this makes no sense. I wish someone who had only seen this was here discussing it. I really want to know what they make of things. The corn field makes zero sense. Does she even ever say she grew up on a corn farm in NE for context? She just died, so I'm thinking not. She didn't really say a whole lot either. As far as I'm concerned these psychos found a crazy old woman and elevated her into a deity for some reason.Alien Redrum wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 1:31 am And WHERE IS THE FUCKING CORN EVERYONE IS FUCKING DREAMING ABOUT SOMEONE WHO NEVER READ THE BOOK GET THE FUCK IN HERE NOW SO WE CAN READ YOUR FUCKING THOUGHTS.
Yep. This is just more senseless motivational BS. And if they're going to blow everyone up and split, who cares if they're seen there? They're going to be gone before anyone puts anything together and they're going to take credit for it anyways.Alien Redrum wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 1:31 am This bothered me too. Ultimately, it's a cheap way to get an emotional response. That was Hawk's pal and Nadine shot him! HAWK'S ONLY FRIEND! *GASP*
right? The first time they show it, and Lloyd and them step out onto the balcony of their room overlooking the casino and they show it all, I believe it's totally a really old cruise ship set. Like maybe from the 80's. A lot of things were painted black or dark, but if you look at it and imagine it as brass railings and white walls, etc., the cruise ship emerges The pool is really odd, because what casino has a pool in the middle of it? I think that clinches it was a cruise ship. I think it's an indoor set of an outdoor cruise ship deck. The casino is a cruise ship with a medieval parking garage. This is an Asylum film.Alien Redrum wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 1:31 am HOLY FUCK! I THINK YOU'RE RIGHT!!!! That's TOTALLY a cruise ship.
She's grown on me as it's gone on and she's not just emceeing in the casino, but still.. what an odd part. It's like they had a list of characters that they had to find work for and they just randomly assigned people things.Alien Redrum wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 1:31 am Holy shit, I didn't know that! Yep. Flagg had no time for those people. They were cleaning things and fixing things up, not doing drugs in a fake cruise ship This is what really gets me to believe that the writers really didn't understand the characters or the story here.Alien Redrum wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 1:31 am Very true. Those were intentional and had nothing to do with speech to text I just got tired of Flagg Flagg Flagg FlaggAlien Redrum wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 1:31 am And I don't know if it's intentional, but your different spellings of Flagg is killing me.
Those walkie talkies are HUGE, have collapsible metal whip antennas, and take 8 AA batteries, as seen on the show. That puts them probably as 70's, maybe even 80's toy walkie talkies. These are the ones you'd see in the Sears or Radio Shack catalog for $99 and you'd know they were serious business because they were HUGE, had HUGE whip antennas and took a shitload of batteries.Alien Redrum wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 1:31 amWhat do you mean by this?Their walkie-talkies are driving me crazy. Lucy's totally in this. She walked by once and someone said Hi Lucy or something like that. Honestly, that was it. She was Farrised out too. Lucys cost money. I'm honestly seeing all of this as low budget nonsense now. This looks like an Asylum movie. If it didn't have some of the star power in it that it does, I think this would 100% be an Asylum version of the Stand. I also wonder if a lot of the budget went to those stars, so now we're dealing with remade cruise ships, fake sewers, and the characters who only get mentioned by name. I bet this cost less than the original miniseries, and I don't mean even by inflationary standards.Alien Redrum wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 1:31 am Holy shit, wait. WAIT!!! What happened to Lucy??? I wonder if it's laziness or going for a certain atmosphere? It's ridiculous. We've all been in hospitals. There's not going to be mood lighting in Abigail's room. There certainly wouldn't be 100000 candles for no reason. It would be lit up bright white like any other hospital room.Alien Redrum wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 1:31 am Could be because of conserving energy until everything is running right? Just kidding. Yeah, that's getting stupid
Exactly. I don't get some of these decisions. If she knew who Tom was, she would know he couldn't read. And as much as I like Tom, he basically has 1 line in this movie so far and it's getting annoying. I hope it gets better. Tom could talk about things, discuss things. All this Cullen can do is recite his memorized speech from Miss Sykes. I find it borderline offensive too. My sister in law is special needs. Special needs people don't work that way. It's like they don't believe Tom would recognize people he's seen before, because he just recites the same thing over and over.Alien Redrum wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 1:31 am Yeah? I keep laughing at this. I don't know why, but it's making me laugh and laugh.Lucys cost money.
(If I'd known I'd just go across the bridge and told them what they were doing wrong).

When you get to the second to the last episode, some pretty cool violence happens. But these motherfuckers didn't even show the Judge situation. Fuck that "more violence" bullshit. If it was glossed over, that's one thing. But to totally not show a fucking thing? Fuck you.
And what sucks more? I like that actor they pulled in for fucking up. The one that gave Phlagg the finger.

That head slicing is pretty cool though. And I also like how Flphlagggggg looked pretty bored with the whole thing towards the end.
