So I went down a rabbit hole to see if Portland had a Mack Bolan book, and it does, but it's not in the title.

Also, it's by Chet Cunningham writing as Pendleton.

Lionel Derrick is the house name, or pseudonym, for Mark K. Roberts and Chet Cummingham while writing the Penetrator series for Pinnacle Books. Roberts wrote the odd books and Cummingham the even ones.

If there really were all these bad ass vietnam vets kicking ass against the mob for various reasons, the mob would've been over by 1977.

What a goofy set up. So there was a car crash, with the professor's niece, and the guy who caused it was in the mob? That's what started all of this?

And what kind of asshole mobster takes a ferrari down a dirt rutted logging road? I'm not buying that one for a second. He would've gotten a truck or something, even if he had to buy or borrow it. Nobody's going take that car down a logging road when they could spend $1000 (back then) on a decent pickup.

Can't wait to see what happens next!

So I came back to this discussion because I thought I might have missed a spoiler you had put, and I re-read this and laughed.

This setup for revenge is even more laughable now that I'm reading Bolan's reason.

This Mark asshole basically stubbed his toe and got all mad about it. Mack has good reason to be mad.

Mark is just a jerk, I think. And he's tricked the professor into financing his jerkness towards the mafia. I think the Indian guy is just there so that it won't be as racist as it really is.
