I Spit on your Grave

Post by Mistress0fTheDamned »

The writer Jennifer Hills rents an isolated lakeside cabin in the woods of the peaceful Mockingbird Trail for two months to write a novel. Two days later, she is brutally gang raped by three local bigots, the sheriff and a handyman. Jennifer returns later to revenge against the rapists.

According to Jeff Branson, although it was never used, there was an "out word" that Sarah Butler was to use if the rape scenes got too intense for her.

In the final shooting script, Jennifer was intended to arrive at the cabin with her dog and it was to be featured heavily during the introduction of the film. The dog was written out of the script last minute because hiring a trained dog for the intended shooting schedule would put the movie over budget. According to the director Steven R. Monroe, "The dog would have made more money than anybody on the movie."

My friends and I were actually pretty surprised on how filthy this is. Going in, we figured there would be no way it would be as brutal and nasty as the original, and to our pleasure, it was. It doesn't give one single, solitary fuck about being PC.

Pretty damn good remake.

I'm thinking I might make one to keep in the trunk of the car though. Might be nice to have hot water if I ever have to watch a Matthews compound for 3-4 days hoping to get the drop on Sergio Frenchi. - Neon Bolan

I don't think I've ever seen this, mainly because this type of movie is nothing I'm interested in seeing it all. Revenge horror has never been interesting to me. I kind of put it in the same grouping of gross out horror, where I just don't see the point.
