A fifteen-foot grizzly bear figures out that humans make for a tasty treat. As a park ranger tries rallying his men to bring about the bear's capture or destruction, his efforts are thwarted by the introduction of dozens of drunken hunters into the area.

I'm thinking I might make one to keep in the trunk of the car though. Might be nice to have hot water if I ever have to watch a Matthews compound for 3-4 days hoping to get the drop on Sergio Frenchi. - Neon Bolan

Re: Horror discussion #16 - Grizzly (1976)
I was watching the upcoming The Centerfold Girls for review this past week, and was reminded of Grizzly (as they both star Andrew Prine).
I really enjoyed Grizzly. Kind of like a Jaws in the forest, but not quite as good. Yet it kills a kid, so it gets points for that.
Recommended.

Voted "Skip it". I got it together with DAY OF THE ANIMALS and DEVIL DOG in a box set, and it was the most boring of the three. Go see DAY OF THE ANIMALS instead: It has a scene where Leslie Nielsen tries to rape a girl. I'd never thought I'd see "Lt. Frank Drebin" do such a thing ...

I hate you.
I did really like Day of the Animals, though. But I liked Grizzly more.
Prine > A Raping Nielsen (although that's a tough thing to say).

Voted to skip it, even as a kid I found it quite boring.
Re: Horror discussion #16 - Grizzly (1976)
I've never heard of it, but judging from the description I should check it out. Any movie where Yogi Bear goes crazy and Ranger Smith is forced to put him down sounds like something I should at least watch once.

Christopher George is awesome, I like Grizzly but the pacing really drags. There is some surprising gore and random acts of violence against children, but I am in the Day of the Animals boat, and I actually prefer Devil Dog to both of them. The photography in Grizzly and Day are both superb though, and as killer animal Jaws ripoffs they both work with a "Made for TV" feel. The film wont be for everyone though, I had to vote rent it.

I voted the same. Christopher George & Richard Jaeckel give this flick some grade A B-movie talent. Much better than "Night of the Grizzly" with Clint Walker.Alien Redrum wrote: I really enjoyed Grizzly. Kind of like a Jaws in the forest, but not quite as good. Best kid kill ever? I give that to Assault on Precient 13....
