Lt. Kinderman and Father Dyer cheer each other up on the anniversary of the death of their mutual friend, Father Damien Karras, by going to see "It's a Wonderful Life" at the local theater in Georgetown, near Washington D.C. But there's no cheering Kinderman while a particularly cruel and gruesome serial killer is at large. His murders, which involve torture, decapitation and the desecration of religious icons, is bad enough; but they also resemble those of the Gemini Killer, who has been dead for fifteen years.

I'm thinking I might make one to keep in the trunk of the car though. Might be nice to have hot water if I ever have to watch a Matthews compound for 3-4 days hoping to get the drop on Sergio Frenchi. - Neon Bolan

As far as sequels go, this is on of the rare one that actually rivals the original.
I have found I have gone back to this more so than the first, and you can't go wrong with a film that has not one, but at least two fantastic scares (at least one of which consistently shows up in discussion threads about scary scenes in movies).
Great, great movie. Highly recommended.

It's not a bad movie, I put rent it. I don't think it rivals the first one, or even the second one. There are a couple really good scares in it, but IMHO that's all it's got going for it. I think it's really talky and nothing ever happens, and the pay off just isn't worth it. It's worth a watch, but I don't think it's a buy.
Because AR doesn't take my posts seriously

It's not the first one.
They are two separate movies (maybe that's why I enjoyed it so much).
The religious aspect is there, sure, and one of the characters is there (not including Satan), but it's completely different in style and pacing.

I absolutely back AR on this one, I love III, II is a drag for me, but III is an excellent entry in the genre and perfectly compliments the original while establishing a completely separate and unique storyline. This is one of the most under mentioned but best sequels to any horror film IMO.

Not as good as the original (but that is hard to do) but I highly recommended it. It definitely has a creepy atmosphere and Brad Dourif as the Gemini Killer was superb.

Seen it it was not bad
Stare at the dark too long and you will eventually see
WHAT ISN’T THERE.
Hell is empty and all the devils are here.
