Mum & Dad

Post by GraveyardManiac »

Some days ago I watched the horror movie "Mum & Dad." I was more than impressed. I was happy. This movie enertained me to a pretty large extent.

If you wish to see perverted people in serious action, you might enjoy this flick.

Who has seen it, and what are your views on it?

I saw it but I was slightly underwhelmed by it. Our esteemed colleague Girlghost, who also writes for Total Film magazine, and was quoted on the poster for Mum & Dad, gave it high praise. I guess I let this set my expectations.

Although I have to say it was a very uncomfortable viewing experience and while I agree it was a remarkable horror film, it didn't leave me with a sense of enjoyment after watching it.

Interesting post, DJBenz.

I had never heard of the movie before I watched it, so I had no expectations really. Maybe that made the difference. Whenever you are looking forward to something, the risk of being let down is high.

While I was watching "Mum & Dad," I really wanted to know how things develop and come to an end, there was a lot of tension that wouldn't let me go, I was glued to the screen.

Watched it last year at a festival. I was really impressed. The flick's candy colourful look made it seem like some fun splatter horror romp, so the crowd went with that and scenes of extreme violence got applause etc.. But this soon turned into absolute silence, because as DJBenz said, it really is an uncomfortable viewing experience. It wasn't fun, but nevertheless really interesting. Recommended!

hello, long time etc etc.

Sorry if I spoiled it for you Denis but for me, yeah, really black, kind of funny then really fucking disturbing by the end. I do really rate this film mainly because I feel like it's tackling something brave and shocking in a very British way. I kind of respect that.

I'm thinking I might make one to keep in the trunk of the car though. Might be nice to have hot water if I ever have to watch a Matthews compound for 3-4 days hoping to get the drop on Sergio Frenchi. - Neon Bolan
