Cloned super soldier Titan Amon is a one-man army against the horde of giant monsters currently terrorizing the West Coast of the United States. His war has taken him into a mysterious and ancient cemetery below the San Andreas Fault. He learns that the creatures did not just rise up out of the earth's crust. They were summoned. Titan has little time to process this information before he's attacked by a masked man. Now he has to gather all his wits and forces together for a final stand against the beasts in Los Angeles.

It's clear that Titan Amon is a master strategist. He works a few steps ahead in his plans, however, this strange attacker was not something he predicted. He's taken completely off-guard and beaten nearly to death. Aside from this, Titan is an incredibly skilled fighter. He literally leaps into battle against the kaijus. This is a single man against towering monsters. Granted, he's got an edge thanks to a special serum that basically makes him Captain America.

Artist Gabriel Ibarra Nunez draws the hell out of these beasts. Just looking at them will make you want to turn away. They are completely unnatural and should not exist in this world. A normal person's brain would have difficulty processing what they're seeing. They're like towering masses of muscle, teeth, and sinew. Despite their sheer size and gruff appearance, they're not invincible. They can be defeated and Titan Amon takes out a number of them with precision and little to no care for his wellbeing.

The masked man's identity is revealed, although I didn't get it at first. I had an idea, but it is not confirmed in the comic itself. He's not named, but is seen. It wasn't until I read the solicitation information about Graveland #3 that I understood as it's spelled out there. This is Amon Butler, the man that Titan Amon is cloned from. He's working with the monsters. This is a big deal and it would have packed more of a punch if it was clearer in the comic instead of having it spoiled in the description of the issue.

The idea of a human working with the beasts adds a more sinister twist to Graveland. It's a departure from what is usually seen in Godzilla stories, where mankind is running away in terror, like ants compared to the kaiju destroying cities.

The battle between the two Amons is brutal. Butler decimates Titan. You can feel each blow as it lands. A normal man would be broken several times over if he was forced to endure such an assault. Instead, Titan tries his best to stay standing.

The imagery of Los Angeles in flames is unfortunately not a foreign concept at the moment, as most of the West Coast is on fire. It's still a chilling visual seeing these monsters rampage down major highways and destroy buildings. We don't know their true goal here just yet, but Titan Amon is not going to let them get to it without a fight.
