GWAR, the aliens from planet Scumdogia, are here to fuck your shit up. When they're sent spiraling through time by the absolute tool, Mr. Perfect, the group is forced to stomp, slam, and slice their way through history. No one is safe. The timeline is pretty much screwed. Welcome to the Orgasmageddon.

My overall exposure to GWAR is limited to Beavis & Butthead, specifically a video appearance on the show and the mostly forgotten Super Nintendo game. That being said, Orgasmageddon is easy to dive into. You don't need to know all the players or what they do. Writers Matt Maguire and Matt Miner introduce you to everyone in a quick and efficient manner then you're off into the chaos. I'm sure that longtime fans will enjoy this comic on a whole other level.

What is immediately apparent is how insane GWAR is, especially when put into such a bizarre situation. If Deadpool and Lobo formed a band, you'd have a poor imitation of GWAR. Part monster, part alien, part rock star. They're unlike anything you've ever seen. The group is tough as nails and takes no crap from anyone. Forget punching Nazis. These guys will slice one's head clear off his shoulders. (Yes, that happens in this book.)

The artwork from Jonathan Brandon Sawyer and Maguire perfectly captures this madness. GWAR is larger than life in otherworldly, gladiator-like costumes, making them look like warriors just as much as musicians. They would make KISS shake in their glam boots just by glancing at them. My favorite is Balsac the Jaws of Death. His head is just a big metal jaw with horns sticking out of either end. He's a bit like a mouser from the '80s Ninja Turtle cartoon if it was crossed with a badass viking.

The two artists handle different segments in the book and these flow together nicely. While their art styles are very distinct, the reasoning for the change works with the story, so you're not suddenly shocked when you turn the page and the characters are all changed. It's worked into the story organically.

The colors from Marissa Louise and Doug Garbark complement the artwork. This is a vibrant book, full of life...and a whole lot of death. People are killed in elaborate and often hilarious ways. The blood is flowing like a river, flying off the page.

GWAR: Orgasmageddon is an over-the-top, balls-out, insane comic dripping with dark humor. The violence is elaborate and gore-filled. If Animal from the Muppets became a bloodthirsty creature of anarchy and murder, you might get a rough idea of what you're in for. Most of all, this is a fun read that will leave any horror fan with a smile on their face.
