Everyone's favorite little dead girl is back! Lenore is trapped in her own house with her friends Pooty and Ragamuffin because a sentient undead pickle hat is stalking them. That might be the craziest sentence I've ever written.

Lenore thrives on sheer absurdity. Creator/writer/artist/colorist Roman Dirge has some terrific comedic timing, stopping just short of running a joke into the ground, maximizing the laughs. Instead we get these brilliant tangents that build to a solid punchline before jumping to the next setup. All of them are darkly humorous in the best way.

Although Lenore is undead, she's still a kid. So imagine what she's going through cooped up in this house with nothing to do. She's bored out of her mind and laments to her friends about this before deciding to try and eat one of them. This leads to my favorite exchange of Lenore #1, involving an interesting take on taxidermy.

Dirge's art style matches up to his story perfectly. I love how he holds on certain images for a bit to control the pacing and hammer home a joke. The designs are a little cartoonish, with some dark tones. This complements the gothic look of Lenore's house.

Just when you think Lenore couldn't get any more bizarre, we meet the Time Goats, sending these characters into crazy new directions. If these are the kind of antics that Lenore and her friends can get into when they're stuck in a house, imagine what they'll do through space and time.

I'm so happy that Lenore is back. Horror and comedy are two genres that can exist very close together. This comic shows how they can mix together to create something pretty awesome. It's full of quick wit, fun characters, and super dark humor.
