Piper and Frances have been through a terrifying and mysterious journey through a metaphysical realm filled with monsters. Now they're separated and both carrying on to find answers as to what happened to their mother and their hometown. I'm not sure that they're ready for what comes next.

Frances is at least back on solid ground, joined by her aunt, Jodie, however she's in for some stunning realizations as she returns to town. The place is in shambles and the residents are deformed and monstrous. Their bodies are covered in strange growths, making them look more like husks than real people.

Artist Lisa Sterle creates these emotionless beings that seem to march ever forward towards an unknown destiny. Everything about them is unsettling. Some are more mutated than others, with only parts of their face covered with these tumor-like lumps. Long Lost is presented in black-and-white, so I don't know what color these things would be, however I'm sure it's a gross one. I can just imagine them pulsing like a strange pimple ready to burst.

As disturbing as Frances' journey is, Piper's is even more so. She's found herself in this trippy land of thoughts and dreams where anything can happen. It's like she's trapped in a cartoon landscape where all the humor has been stripped out. Imagine Wile E. Coyote's dire life if reality set in. The moon illuminates everything around her in this dreary landscape as it literally melts in the sky.

Long Lost is now rocketing towards its end as we've entered its second half. The eerie mystery surrounding these girls' lives has pulled me in completely. They were once normal sisters, albeit with some shared personal trauma from their childhood. Now that's come back to haunt them and take them down a rabbit hole of absolute terror. Things are really heating up now. If you've slept on Long Lost, now is the time to catch up.
