What are a group of newly-made vampires to do? They're hungry and desperate, so the logical idea is to rob a blood bank, right? I mean, it does make sense. Unfortunately for them, this spot is already being used by other vampires and things don't go as planned.

Tying the mob to vampires is a brilliant idea and Vamp #3 gets into some of the intricacies of this premise. Of course they would have their hands – and fangs – in blood banks, as it's a great way to get what they need from the unsuspecting public. Writer Jim Eckels bookends this issue with the mob's perspective, showing how serious they're taking this and how they're reacting to these newcomers.

Bruno and the other frat vampires are a bit on the bumbling side, but that adds some fun and excitement to the story. It's not like these guys have a guide as to what to do next. They're figuring this out as they go along and they're pretty bad at it. Artist Emmanuel Bazin delivers some great action sequences in Vamp #3 as this blood bank heist goes horribly wrong.

The vampires are shown more like regular people with fangs, so they appear more human, although with a monstrous bend. Their faces twist into creepy visages, like hungry predators who see their prey. The colors are shades of black and white, playing with shadows in unsettling ways. It makes the vampires look even more pale and sickly. Red comes in with major danger, casting a violent hue across the pages.

At the center of all this chaos is Bruno's younger brother, Ben, the one person in this group of misfits that wasn't turned into a bloodsucker. He's this little oasis of innocence caught up in the bloodshed. Bruno can only keep his friends at bay for so long when there's this tempting piece of meat right in front of them.

Vamp is moving at a mile at a minute as these unlikely frat vampires collide with the bloodsucking mafia. It's an action horror story with a pinch of comedy which makes for a fun combination.
