Review:
Milo is your typical kid. He’s got a skateboard, loves pizza, and he’s a mummy. Wait, I did that wrong. When he wishes every night was pizza night, he unlocks a monkey’s paw-like scenario that will have him asking the impossible question, “Is there such a thing as too much pizza?” The answer is no, but Wrapped Up presents some interesting possibilities.
Wrapped Up instantly delivers the fun, thanks in no small part to Scoot McMahon’s artwork. He provides a cartoony design that will easily bring a smile to your face. Milo is like an undead Bart Simpson, getting into innocent mischief. Sean Dove’s colors complete the package with a vibrant palette. Despite the fact that Milo is essentially a decaying corpse, he looks full of life, perhaps powered by nothing more than childlike wonder and excitement.

Milo may be the star of the show, but his next door neighbor nearly steals the spotlight. He’s a wizard that is clearly off his rocker. At first he just looks like a madman, poking his head out his window, wearing a paper hat and nothing else but a tattered bathrobe. Then he literally jumps through the window of Milo's house, sending glass everywhere and scaring the crap out of the boy, all to get his hands on that sweet, sweet pizza. I know how he feels.
Dave Scheidt's dialogue is hilarious. I laughed out loud repeatedly while reading Wrapped Up. You have to accept the absurdity of this overall world. Once you do that, anything goes, including, but not limited to, pizza horses, pizza knights, and magic pepperoni. I'm so in.

Wrapped Up is a fun romp of a comic that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike. We're not dealing with life and death here. It's a great way to introduce your kids to horror. We've got monsters, but they're playful and silly and love pizza. Speaking of, I was happy to see the Dave Scheidt mainstay of “A Slice Would Be Nice” on the pizza delivery guy. I've seen that pop up in at least two other comics by Scheidt. The dude writes a lot about what he loves and he loves pizza. Who doesn't?
