Review:
It's safe to say that the Mummy family is going to leave a negative review on Yelp after this particular vacation. What started peaceful and tranquil turned into an all-out battle royale with every monster and weirdo they've encountered in the series to date. We've got giant bugs, a yeti, a love-sick gorilla, a creepy haunted doll, an angry sentient pizza, and more. There's only one thing left for Milo and his family to do: kick some monster butt.
Wrapped Up #10 is completely bonkers. It jumps right into the chaos as these creatures rampage over the adorable little bungalow this family is staying in. It’s enough to just sit back and watch the pandemonium unfold as they fight all these monsters again. This is like the lead up to the final boss in a video game where you face all the enemies you've vanquished before.
That isn't to say that this issue doesn't have its share of laughs. If anything, there are even more. Writer Dave Scheidt packs this comic with non-stop comedy. Some of the jokes are throwbacks to earlier chapters where these enemies first appeared. These don't derail the story at all. It just adds a bit more for long time readers.

At the center of this mess is the Wizard. He introduces all of this by bursting onto the scene and pointing at the incoming onslaught. Fortunately, he's got a few tricks up his sleeve to combat these foes. They just don't make much sense. Instead of conjuring a weapon or a tank, he transforms a few folks into a motorcycle gang. It's a little weird, but it totally works in this situation because it's just the latest of a never-ending attack of insanity.
Artist Scoot McMahon's work is like a cartoon on the page. Every image is full of life and energy. You can't help but love these characters and the ridiculous antics they get themselves into. McMahon's pencils make this crazy world real. It's his artwork that makes you just go with everything you see here. Of course, Milo's mom can fly at a giant dragon and punch it in the nose. Can't your mom do that too?
This energy is amplified by Sean Dove's colors. Wrapped Up is a gorgeously colored book with a bright, vibrant color palette. It's a Technicolor dream that can pull in people of any age. Despite the monsters involved, this is not a book filled with shadows and gloom. Instead, it's a shiny explosion of awesomeness.

The backup story, “The Night Patrons,” illustrated by Shan Murphy, underscores this feeling. It shows a typical night for Milo and how a simple task can turn into complete and total mayhem. He's like an undead version of Dennis the Menace. Murphy's artwork matches the cartoony vibe of Wrapped Up, although it's flatter and less lively than that of McMahon.
Wrapped Up is the pure essence of fun. It's the perfect way to share mummies and assorted monsters with your children. The comic doesn't dumb down the material or handle it with kid gloves. Instead, it dives right into the laughs and crazy stuff that can happen when your best friend is a disheveled wizard. This is a book that adults should read too, as it speaks to the inner child in all of us. If you ever got up early on a Saturday morning to watch cartoons, you need Wrapped Up in your life.
