Review:
Get out the streamers, as Zombie Tramp celebrates its 50th issue by...wait, is this correct? They kill the main character? Really? That's right, folks! The Death of Zombie Tramp is in full swing as the series reaches a milestone that few titles get to in this day and age. The assembled forces of Vampblade, DollFace, and Black Betty prepare for an all-out attack on a stronger, more evil Janey Belle, infected by the dark forces of the Kaiju Queen. Will it be enough to quell this growing threat? Well, the story arc is called The Death of Zombie Tramp, so what do you think?
Janey sits atop a throne of corpses. This is a sight to behold. Artist Celor plays up just how evil the Zombie Tramp has become, literally stepping over the bodies of the souls she's taken in her work. She has become an unholy visage with strange black antlers growing out of her collar bones. A fierce yellow eye stares out of her chest with ugly veins running out of it. This contrasts well with her deathly pale skin. Colorist Valentina Pucci did a great job bringing the macabre in this issue.

Celor's work can be rock solid at times, however this issue is a little hit or miss. There are many panels where the pencils look a little rushed, like they're more sketches than finished inks. The characters often lack form, appearing as flat or awkward paper dolls.
The battle between these four heroines of the Zombie Tramp universe is epic in scale and brutal in nature. These women are pulling no punches, going all out against this insanely powerful threat DollFace delivers some particularly gruesome attacks, including literally slicing Janey in half. This is a horrifying sight and right at home in this book. Of course, this isn't the end of the Zombie Tramp, as she can bounce to a new body and she's very much prepared for this event.

Adam Wollet provided some unique styles for some of central characters in his lettering. Janey's stands out the most in these jagged blue word balloons, although I'm surprising these haven't mutated more to match her appearance. Vampblade and Black Betty have more standard letters, while DollFace's words have an old-timey look to match her background.
Although this is the Death of Zombie Tramp, it is not the end. There will be an issue #51 coming out in August. Writer Dan Mendoza led us to an intriguing cliffhanger with this chapter and I'm eager to see how it will play out. Janey Belle's journey has been nothing short of riveting as she's spiraled down this black hole of evil. There's no telling if she'll make it back. If she does, will we even recognize her?
