THE EYES BELOW begins as all days end. A man, Eugene, goes to bed. Everything is quiet and silent in the house. Just as he is about to fall asleep, something climbs on his legs, his stomach and then his chest. He opens his eyes in a half sleep and discovers that the night will not be as peaceful as he thought.

If you're one of those people who can't leave so much as a pinkie exposed from under your bed sheets, then Alexis Bruchon's The Eyes Below is going to do nothing to aid a restless night's sleep. Using a minimalist concept and a single character, Eugene, the film takes place entirely in a bed as the man hits the sack after a hard day's work. The Eyes Below was successfully Kickstarter funded and is the second chapter of a planned trilogy, following on from The Woman with Leopard Shoes, which screened at FrightFest Glasgow in 2021. Bruchon's common concept for his trilogy is simply: a character, a place, a story. His minimalist approach has allowed him to have his films audience-ready in super quick time, with the first two chapters going from pre to post production in just 11 months each. At this rate, expect to see the final slice of his trifecta, Point de Fuite, at one of the FrightFest events next year.

The Eyes Below receives its premiere on 26th August 2022 at 1:15pm in Discovery Screen One. For tickets go to: https://frightfest.nuwebgroup.com/
