Any self-respecting genre fan should be familiar with at least the name of pioneering filmmaker Georges Méliès if not his work. Largely regarded as one of the founding fathers of the science fiction and fantasy genres, Méliès was prolific in pushing the boundaries of special effects and film techniques in the early 1900s. One film which is attributed to him, but not confirmed, is La Rage Du Demon - screenings of which have reportedly led to outbreaks of crowd hysteria, violence and even death. French director Fabien Delage has delved into the lore behind the film to investigate the strange happenings that surround it when screened. Let's just hope the Frightfest crowd doesn't succumb to any of the footage shown in this documentary. Just keep repeating, "it's only a movie, it's only a movie..."
