ABSOLUTE CARNAGE IS MARVEL’S EPIC SUMMER EVENT
I’ve been singing the praises of the current Venom series from Marvel Comics for some time. This summer, it’s about to get a whole lot bloodier as the publisher has announced its big summer event in Absolute Carnage. From writer Donny Cates, artist Ryan Stegman, and colorist Frank Martin, the event kicks off in Free Comic Book Day Spider-Man / Venom #1 on May 5th and starts in earnest in August. Fans will see threads of this story reaching all the way back to Amazing Spider-Man #252 with connections to almost every Venom and Carnage story since.
“Cletus Kasady is back, and he is deadlier than he’s ever been,” Cates teased in the video announcement. “Absolute Carnage encompasses every single character who has ever worn a symbiote and every symbiote that has ever been, going all the way back to when Peter found the black suit. Going from there to Maximum Carnage to Venomized to everything…everyone is a target.”
The current Venom series has worked to redefine the character and the symbiote so I can’t wait to see what this creative team has in store for such a big event.
