Jack Rabbit CoverSometimes you get mysterious promotional image emails with little to no information.  Those are often the best kind as you end up with a whole lot of questions as to just what the hell this stuff is supposed to mean.  That's what I felt when I started getting these images from Contraband Comics for their upcoming comic, Jack Rabbit #1.

Booze, Broads, Demons, and Dead Kids.  These things should go together like chocolate and peanut butter, right?  We'll find out in Jack Rabbit #1, a supernatural noir set in 1930's Los Angeles.  The book follows ex-boxer / current private eye Jackson "Jack Rabbit" Quaid as his latest case brings him into the seedy underbelly of the occult.

“Each of Contraband’s titles are a blend of genres. With Jack Rabbit, Jim and I are mixing a heavy dose of noir with a variety of elements from horror and the supernatural to a touch of sci-fi and even a bit of a POP sensibility,” Contraband Comics founder, Jon Goff said. “The end result, we hope, is an experience that drags the reader through the muck of Jack’s life, but in an occasionally cringe-worthy, ultimately entertaining manner.”

Jack Rabbit #1 is a 24 page release available exclusively in the digital format through Contraband's relationship with iVerse Media.  This first issue of a planned five issue mini-series can be picked up for just $0.99.  If you're still not sure, you can check out an 11 page preview of the book first.  Yeah, you can check out almost half the issue before buying it and you don't have to do it with a store owner hounding you for reading it without laying down the cash.

What do you think of Jack Rabbit #1?  Are you ready to explore the dark side of 1930s LA?
