Fear takes flight again this October, as Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds” soars back into theaters for its 60TH Anniversary. The legendary thriller airs as part of Fathom Events’ Big Screen Classics and Fright Fest lineups, with screenings on Sunday, October 22 at 1pm and 7pm local time, and Monday, October 23 at 7pm local time.
Hopeful to catch the eye of handsome lawyer Mitch Brenner (Rod Taylor), young socialite Melanie Daniels’ (Tippi Hedren) takes a spontaneous trip to Bodega Bay to surprise the potential beau. Her pleasant getaway soon becomes an avian nightmare of epic proportions, however, when flocks of feral birds unleash caged fury on the town and its residents. “The Birds” is inspired by the classic short story by Daphne Du Maurier, and also stars Jessica Tandy, Suzanne Pleshette, and Veronica Cartwright.
The screening includes an exclusive introduction by notable film critic and historian Leonard Maltin, examining this landmark thriller and the iconic filmmaker who helped it take flight.
