DAVID HINE & MARK STAFFORD RE-TEAM FOR THE BAD BAD PLACE

Lip Hook, a graphic novel published last year freaked me right out. Now imagine my surprise and unease when I heard that Soaring Penguin Press has brought the creators behind that book, David Hine and Mark Stafford, back together for The Bad Bad Place. This new story is set in Faraway Hills, a new town built on the site of the far, far older Crouch Heath. It does not satisfy the needs of the community, so when Castavette Estate reappeared at the edge of town, years after it had been demolished, those needs, urges, and cravings were satisfied...but at what price?

"We set out to tell the ultimate haunted house story—the story of a place so bad they named it twice. There is Lovecraftian horror, a hint of folk tales like The Pied Piper of Hamelin, a pinch of social commentary and a good dose of sardonic merriment along the way,” explains Hine. "We ended up working on Lip Hook and The Bad Bad Place side-by-side and that worked in their favour. The two books are companion pieces, The Bad Bad Place a warped mirror of Lip Hook: two tales to leave you with a lingering sense of unease."

The Bad Bad Place is set for release on November 9th, 2019.
