If you know me at all be it in real life or in my reviews, when I mention remakes* or relaunches or whatever, they simply don't bother me. Not in the least. I figure if someone wants to take a crack at something already done, more power to them and the version I like will always be available. No need to cry about it. But even with that, when I read the news that Spike will be broadcasting The Mist, no less in 10 episodes, even I thought that was a little odd considerign how great the movie is.

However, after watching the trailer below, this just looks to be taking place in the same universe as the novella/movie and not really a remake. Count me in.

The Mist premieres on Spike TV on June 22nd at 10 PM, ET/PT.

When the residents of Bridgeville, Maine find themselves engulfed by a foreboding mist containing a myriad of inexplicable and bizarre threats, their humanity is put to the test in THE MIST, a new 10 episode serialized drama premiering Thursday, June 22 at 10 PM, ET/PT on Spike.

Based on a story by Stephen King, THE MIST has been re-imagined for television by Executive Producer and Writer Christian Torpe and produced for Spike by TWC-Dimension Television. Spike's THE MIST centers around a small town family that is torn apart by a brutal crime. As they deal with the fallout an eerie mist rolls in, suddenly cutting them off from the rest of the world, and in some cases, each other. Family, friends and adversaries become strange bedfellows, battling the mysterious mist and its threats, fighting to maintain morality and sanity as the rules of society break down.

THE MIST stars Morgan Spector, Alyssa Sutherland, Gus Birney, Danica Curcic, Okezie Morro, Luke Cosgrove, Darren Pettie, Russell Posner, Dan Butler, Isiah Washington, Jr. and Frances Conroy.

*For the record, I don't consider this a remake. I don't anything that has a book for a source a remake, with maybe the exception of that god awful shot-for-shot Psycho experiment.

He's the puppet master. You don't see him, but he pulls the strings that gets things done. He's the silent partner. He's black ops. If you notice his presence, it's the last thing you'll notice — because now you're dead. He's the shadow you thought you saw in that dark alleyway. You can have a conversation with him, and when you turn around to offer him a cup of coffee, he's already gone.
