You should always be cautious about the types of things you click on when browsing the Internet.  You could download a virus or get your identity stolen.  Somehow, none of those thoughts when through my head when I received an email from ComixTribe with the subject line “Get in the van...”  I opened it up and all I saw was the above image and a link to  Oh, there was also a PS. “Bring a shovel.”  Color me intrigued.

Clicking on the link brings you to a page with the same image, prompting you for your name and email address.  This is just the beginning.  Trust me on this.  You're going to want to submit your information.  You'll get a free digital ashcan of Sink, an upcoming comic from writer John Lees and artist Alex Cormack.  It is well worth your time.

The 19 page ashcan serves as an introduction to Sinkhill, a strange area in Glasgow, Scotland where even stranger things happen.  I'm not going to spoil the fun, but I will tell you that I yelled out “HOLY SHIT!” when I flipped to one of the first few pages.  This looks to be an absolutely terrifying comic and I cannot wait to see more.  Lees and Cormack recently wrapped up Oxymoron: The Loveliest Nightmare which was one of my favorite horror comics of last year.  The idea that the two of them would be collaborating again has definitely piqued my interest.

Sink is not being distributed in a traditional manner.  It's a series of one-shots set in Scotland and that's not something that publishers are clamoring for.  ComixTribe has stepped up and is cutting out the middle men in the equation, setting up a direct link to the readers well before the book sees print.  This connection is made through the mailing list at the aforementioned site.  Signing up gets you access to cool content and puts you among the first in the world to get your hands on each chapter of Sink as it's released.  That's the thing.  You sign up for the mailing list and you'll get to read this for FREE.

Yes, there will be Sink items to purchase in the future and other ways you can support the project.  The way this book will grow is through this mailing list.  The more people that sign up – or the most folks that get in the van – the more issues Lees and Cormack will make.  So, since I selfishly want to see this comic come to fruition and quickly at that, please sign up for that mailing list.  Get in the van with me.  I can't promise candy, but I can promise a pretty awesome looking and scary comic.
