GOT A ZOMBIE PROBLEM?  CALL ZACK THE ZOMBIE EXTERMINATOR!

Every time I think I've seen the last of the zombie genre, a new one pops up and I'm still interested.  This December sees the release of Zack the Zombie Exterminator, a new original graphic novel from Coffin Comics.

The horror comedy comic picks up a year after the dead have started to rise.  It's not so much a zombie apocalypse as a pest problem.  Redneck / metal head Zack Zander has a talent for zombie-splatting and gets his whole family in on the action.  Together, the Zander clan makes up Z-Gone, the “semi-professional” zombie exterminators and they showcase all of their work on YouTube.  Zack's exploits take him from a viral video joke to a primetime hero, complete with cooler clothes, better gear, and a sexy sidekick.

As the popularity goes to Zack's head, his family ties begin to break and some competition hits the marketplace with The Dead Patrol.  Zack falls from grace, losing his money, his family, and his girl.  As if this wasn't enough, an ancient evil is threatening to bring forth a hellish undead apocalypse.  Zack has one chance to make things right.  All he has to do is kill a horde of flesh hungry zombies and stop the god of Death from destroying the world.  No pressure.

Zack the Zombie Exterminator is written by Mike MacLean and Brian Pulido and illustrated by Djibril Morissette-Phan with colors by Ceci de la Cruz.  It's a 96 page original graphic novel set for release in December after a Kickstarter campaign wraps up.  The project began as a short film which you can check out below.

“It’s like Wayne’s World meets Dawn of the Dead,” says co-creator Brian Pulido. “The horror is real, but the character’s reactions are where the comedy lies.”

“We all love AMC’s The Walking Dead. Week after week the show delivers gut-wrenching drama, dangling its characters over the brink of extinction. It’s thrilling, thought-provoking, and… utterly depressing. That’s not Zack,” says Mike MacLean. “Simply stated, Zack the Zombie Exterminator puts the fun back into zombie-splatting.”
