Oh, San Diego Comic Con.  You fill my inbox with so many varied press releases and new titles that it's almost hard to keep track of them all.  Some time last year, BOOM! Studios had announced that it was working on a project with Grant Morrison.  You may know him from titles such as New X-Men, Action Comics, We3, Joe the Barbarian, and many others.  That was it though.  We didn't find out any specifics about the book...until now.

It turns out that Morrison is re-creating the origin of Santa Claus in a new all-ages fantasy epic with artwork from Dan Mora.  The comic, entitled Klaus, re-imagining Kris Kringle for an audience raised on superheroes like Batman, Thor, and Iron Man.  This is how he really began, drawing on his wider roots in Viking lore and Siberian shamanism.  The book will explore what he was like when he was young, why he does what he does, and what happens when he faces his greatest challenge.

No other specifics have been released at this time, but really what else do you need?  It's Grant Morrison on Santa Claus.  I'm so intrigued by what he might do with this.  Adding Dan Mora definitely sweetens the deal and he's been absolutely killing it on Hexed lately.

Klaus is set to debut in November.
