GRIMMFEST, Manchester's Festival of Horror, Cult and Fantastic Film is back. Odeon Printworks will once again be our venue for the weekend, as the Grimm Team unleash their latest and greatest line-up of dark, dangerous, and chilling horror films, opening with the Marilyn Manson-starring LET ME MAKE YOU A MARTYR.

Highlights include:

Gala Opening Night
The UK premiere of Corey Asraf’s metaphysical country noir LET ME MAKE YOU A MARTYR, starring which Marilyn Manson stars as an emotionless hired killer. We’ll also be bringing you the regional premieres of the genre-bending, comedy of manners ANOTHER EVIL as well as the gruelling psychological thriller from director Shaun Robert Smith, BROKEN.

This year we will be playing host to the world premiere of Matt Stuertz’ spin on the cabin in the woods genre, TONIGHT SHE COMES as well as the regional premiere of Sean Brosnan's brutal tale of vengeance, MY FATHER, DIE and the UK premieres of THE UNSEEN, director Geoff Redknap’s tale of body horror and social alienation, and TRASH FIRE, the outrageous new film from Richard Bates, Jr., director of previous Grimmfest favourites EXCISION and SUBURBAN GOTHIC. Further regional premieres include Mickey Keating’s dark and paranoid DARLING, Joseph Sims-Dennet’s OBSERVANCE and the Dominic Monaghan starring, PET.

International Fare
This year’s festival crosses boundaries of genre and geography with on of our most international line-ups yet. We’ve teamed up with the Nordic Genre Invasion team. From Denmark comes the regional premiere of the suburban zombie nightmare WHAT WE BECOME as well as the disturbing and strange SUNKEN CONVENT. While from Norway we bring you the UK premiere of the claustrophobic VILLMARK ASYLUM. From further afield in Asia we are excited to bring the UK premieres the zombies-on-a-train rollercoaster TRAIN TO BUSAN and the Taiwan set, old school ghost film THE TAG ALONG.

Independent and Off-beat
Grimmfest began out of the desire to showcase new British independent genre work and this year is no exception with the white knuckle, claustrophobic tension of Ben Parker’s THE CHAMBER and Steve Barker’s socio-political zombie thriller THE REZORT. We also continue our commitment to genre-bending fare with the retro 80’s shocker, BEYOND THE GATES and Penn Jillette’s savage satire of directorial hubris, DIRECTOR’S CUT.

Classic Horror
This year’s Grimmfest classic is a genuine (and gory) slice of cinema history, THE BURNING. Marking the cinematic debut of Holly Hunter, Fisher Stevens and Jason Alexander this infamous slasher is now reissued in a beautifully-restored, remastered edition from the folks at Arrow Films.

Short Film Showcase
As ever, the shorts programme has something for everyone including a plethora of premieres.

Festival Hub
This year Grimmfest will be hosting a special festival hub area where fans get the chance to play a multitude of horror influenced games from the eighties through to the present day as well as a number of Horror themed stalls including the guys from Arrow Films.

This year's Grimmfest films are selected, lined up, and ready to roll. But who'll be joining the fans for the shiversome screenings?

On THURSDAY they are joined, all the way from America, by director Cory Asaraf, who'll be on hand to talk about his noirish meeting of Marilyn Manson and metaphysics, LET ME MAKE YOU A MARTYR as well as a hard look at relationships with BROKEN director Shaun Robert Smith and producer/actor Craig Conway. On FRIDAY, they'll be celebrating the city's considerable local talent, with writer/director Matt Johns, producer Chris Lane, and lead actor Garth Maunders and their acclaimed short, A FATHER'S DAY. On SATURDAY director Ben Parker, producer Jen Handoff, and lead actress Charlotte Salt, will be joining them for their masterclass in the art of claustrophobia, THE CHAMBER.

Plus there's more sulphurous shorts from local talent, featuring the premiere of the sour revenge drama NSFW, with director Cosmo Wallace and DEARLY BELOVED, with director Corey Kelly, and produced by Grimmfest’s own John Davidson. SUNDAY sees the world premiere of the shocking, startling, wildly unpredictable TONIGHT SHE COMES and the festival is delighted to be welcoming director Matt Stuertz to introduce and talk about the film. Finally, they have the regional premiere of THE REZORT, with director Steve Barker, writer Paul Gerstenberger, and members of the cast all on hand to offer some suitably horrific holiday tips.

PLUS as a festival first, this year will have a whole host of specially-recorded intros from those directors and stars of the movies that, for one reason or another, couldn't make it along in person, but still wanted to be there in spirit.

On FRIDAY, they'll be kicking things off with videos from director and special effects maestro Geoff Redknap, for his downbeat and disquieting drama THE UNSEEN; director Bo Mikkelsen for the claustrophobic urban nightmare WHAT WE BECOME; and director Adam Rifkin and writer, actor and magician, Penn Jillette, with their satirical shocker, DIRECTOR'S CUT. On SATURDAY they will have pre-recorded words of wisdom from Joseph Sims-Bennett, director of the voyeuristic psychological thriller OBSERVANCE; director Carles Torrens and actor Dominic Monaghan with comments on the startling and confrontational relationships of the queasy PET; and writer/director Richard Bates, Jr with insight into the good-old fashioned family hostility of TRASH FIRE. On SUNDAY, director Jackson Stewart and actor Graham Skipper will be inviting fans to embark on a journey BEYOND THE GATES, while actor, producer and horror icon, Ken Foree will be giving the lowdown (as well as a potential live Q+A) on his latest feature, THE RIFT.

Grimmfest runs 6th-9th October at Odeon Printworks, Manchester UK.
