Newly-announced horror adventure, Close to the Sun, finds publisher

Studio: Storm in a Teacup

Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC

Release date: 2019 TBC

It’s an alternative reality, towards the end of the 20th century, and Nikola Tesla’s inventions have created a second scientific enlightenment. Somewhere in this enlightenment is Rose, a journalist, heading into the new world in search of her sister and the truth. This is Close to the Sun, a horror-adventure game coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC this year.

Close to the Sun was only recently announced, made possible by a new partnership between Wired Productions – independent games publisher responsible for publishing multiple award-winning titles – and Storm in a Teacup – an Italian development studio with a focus on narrative-led games, and also recipient of an Unreal Dev Grant in 2018.

Of this partnership, Leo Zullo, managing director of Wired Productions, said:

Close to the Sun is a beautiful and unique title which showcases both the talent of the developer and the calibre of experience synonymous with the Wired Productions brand. Our pipeline for 2019 builds upon the quality titles we’ve brought to market over this past year, and we couldn’t be happier to announce this partnership with Storm in a Teacup.

CEO of Storm in a Teacup, Carlo Ivo Alimo Bianchi, also made a statement about the collaboration:

We’re delighted to partner with Wired Productions and to see Close to the Sun benefit from their experience in titles with that extra level of depth. Working together enables us to focus on perfecting a game that we truly believe will be a new benchmark for Storm in a Teacup; a title that brings story, horror and character development together to a new level.

As Rose, players will be heading into the depths of Helios, a ship built by Tesla to progress the realms of science without the interference of society and potential espionage. What begins as a story for a journalist soon becomes something much darker.

Close to the Sun will take you aboard the Helios some time in 2019, but you keep up with any updates by checking out their Facebook page or signing up to their mailing list on the game’s official website.
