JAMES TYNION IV LAUNCHES RAZORBLADES HORROR ANTHOLOGY MAGAZINE

The anthology is a pillar of the horror comics community. It's where many great creators got their start and that extends to today. Writer James Tynion IV, who already has a few notable horror titles under his belt, most recently Something is Killing the Children, has teamed up with writer / editor Steve Foxe to launch RazorBlades: The Horror Magazine, a quarterly anthology sold exclusively through Tynion's Tiny Onion Studios.

RazorBlades #1 clocks in at nearly 80 pages and features comics, prose, and illustrations from creators Francine B/WitnessTheAbsurdj, Andy Belanger, Marguerite Bennett, Aditya Bidikar, Aaron Campbell, Jenna Cha, DaNi, Werther Dell’Edera, Michael Dialynas, Steve Foxe, Trevor Henderson, Jock, Sam Johns, Serge LaPointe, Emilio Lecce, Brian Level, Danny Lore, Nick Robles, Lonnie Nadler, Trung “Trungles” Nguyen, Ricardo Lopez Ortiz, Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou, John J. Pearson, Scott Snyder, Dylan Todd, James Tynion IV, Ram V, and Michael Walsh. It also features an extensive interview between Tynion IV and Scott Snyder.

“Our goal was to focus on the rising class in the comic book industry,” Tynion writes in the issue’s introduction. “Young creatives, starting to make their name in horror, or in comics in general. We’ve asked them to bring us their most frightening work, grounded in the modern world, not trying to evoke something from decades past.”

Razorblades is available digitally as a pay-what-you-want price. All creators maintain full ownership of their work, allowing them to potentially build on or spin off their ideas into other areas. The magazine will also feature several serialized stories, starting with Killboy by Tynion IV and Ricardo Lopez Ortiz and A Dream of Time by Ram V and John J. Pearson.

“With no slight at all to crowd-funded projects, we didn’t want to work on that timeline,” Foxe added. “We were impatient about getting Razorblades into readers’ hands, especially after such a tumultuous summer for the industry. A surprise launch—a jump scare—felt right.”

Razorblades #1 features a cover by Trevor Henderson and is available now through ReadRazorBlades.com. There was a special edition print run limited to only 500 copies and that has already sold out. Future issues will be dropped every quarter with issue #2 arriving just before Halloween.
