JOE HILL & GABRIEL RODRIGUEZ REVIVE TALES FROM THE DARK SIDE

There are some comics that you can recommend to just about anybody, especially if they ask about where to start with the medium. Locke & Key is one of those titles. Written by Joe Hill and illustrated by Gabriel Rodriguez, the comic is a fantastic read that is equal parts terrifying, heartbreaking, and life-affirming. So, you can imagine my excitement with IDW Publishing announced that the duo will be teaming up again this June for Tales from the Dark Side, a four-issue mini-series revival of the horror anthology TV series of the same name.

Hill will be re-imagining Tales from the Dark Side for a contemporary take on the cult classic, diving into a cohesive universe with each individual issue. The stories will draw inspiration from the TV series while also taking a meta approach to the material. I'm not entirely sure what that means, but I'm also not familiar with the TV show.

“This is the show that could've been,” says Hill. “The original Tales from the Darkside was a fun, bleak little spin on the Twilight Zone style anthology. My idea is to give readers a little more. Every story is meant to stand alone, but gradually, you will come to see how they all connect, to tell a single larger story.”

Rodriguez will provide cover art for the series along with Charles P. Wilson III who will contribute variant covers. The first issue of Tales from the Dark Side is set for release in June 2016.
