Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has released the trailer for Justice League Dark, the next DC Universe animated movie.  Set for release in early 2017, the film features a new team of heroes led by occult specialist John Constantine.  Other members include Swamp Thing, Zatanna, Deadman, and Jason Blood (aka Etrigan the Demon).  The group joins forces after innocent civilians start committing horrible crimes across the country, presumably due to demonic forces.  Batman realizes that the Justice League is out of their element as it's not a big monster they can just punch into submission, so he calls in the Hellblazer himself.

The voice cast is pretty great for this feature.  Matt Ryan reprises the role of John Constantine, which he portrayed in the short-lived Constantine TV show.  Rosario Dawson is Wonder Woman.  Jerry O'Connell is Superman.  Alfred Molina is Destiny.  Justice League Dark is directed by Jay Oliva from a story from J.M. DeMatteis and Ernie Altbacker and a teleplay by Ernie Altbacker.

The DC animated films have been hit-or-miss with me.  The studio has been cranking them out pretty regularly and even adapting classic stories like The Killing Joke.  I only read the first arc of Justice League Dark during DC's New 52 reboot, but it has a cast that's right up my alley.  Most of these characters work better alone, so it's interesting how they come together as a team.

Justice League Dark will be available on Digital HD on January 24th, 2017 and on Blu-Ray and DVD on February 7th, 2017.
