LAWRENCE BLOCK PENS INTRODUCTION TO THE BLACK HOOD: VOLUME 1

It's no secret that I'm a fan of The Black Hood from Dark Circle Comics.  It presents a realistic and brutal take on what would actually happen if someone decided to put on a mask and fight crime in Philadelphia.  It's worthy of the term “gritty.”  This December sees the release of The Black Hood: Volume 1 – The Bullet's Kiss, collecting the first five issues of the series written by Duane Swierczynski and illustrated by Michael Gaydos.  The publisher has announced that best-selling crime writer Lawrence Block will be providing the introduction. To say that this is a perfect fit for the comic is an understatement.

"Both Duane and I are huge fans of Lawrence Block's epic body of work, from Matt Scudder to his most recent novel," said Alex Segura, Dark Circle Comics Editor. "To have him grace this important book with an introduction is amazing, and something I'm very excited for fans to embrace. You're getting work from two of the most acclaimed voices in crime fiction in this collection, for the price of one."

The Black Hood is set to return next week with issue #6, drawn by guest artist Howard Chaykin.  Ideally the first trade would have been released around the same time but it looks like it's been pushed back a bit, releasing on December 9th 2015 at comic book stores and January 12th, 2016 at book stores.
