Resident Evil Chronicles Hd Collection CoverIt is a good time to be a fan of Resident Evil.  The recently released Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City got some free DLC today in the form of the first US Spec Ops mission.  Players will set out in search of evidence that will reveal the truth behind the virus outbreak as Harley, Dee-Ay, Tweed, Willow, Shona, or Party Girl.  This is just the first batch of DLC as an additional six missions are planned for release over the next few weeks along with four versus mode maps.  Those will cost you though.

But that's not all. Capcom has the Resident Evil Chronicles: HD Collection is due out in June, bringing The Umbrella Chronicles and The Darkside Chronicles to the Playstation 3 in glorious high definition.  You'll be able to buy these on a disc or as downloadable games from the Playstation Network.  We've got some exciting screenshots of the HD versions of the games below.

Both games will feature Move compatibility, allowing you to play by yourself or co-op with a buddy.  Trophies are of course, included.  The Umbrella Chronicles has a whopping eight playable characters including favorites such as Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield.  Meanwhile, The Darkside Chronicles brings players along for the ride as Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield attempt to escape the horrors of Raccoon City.  These were previously only available on the Nintendo Wii, but now those with PS3s can get into the mix.

I haven't played either of these games, but I'm a fan of the Resident Evil franchise.  At least the games anyway, not so much for the movies.  What do you think of this upcoming HD Collection?
