REINCARNATION MEETS ASSASSINS IN WE(L)COME BACK
The job of an assassin is pretty cut and dry. In exchange for a large sum of money, you kill someone. What if your target doesn't stay dead? We(l)come Back, set to debut in August from BOOM! Studios from writer Christopher Sebela and artist Jonathan Brandon Sawyer follows a pair of assassins with that very problem. They're not fighting zombies. Instead, they're both stuck in an eternal cycle of reincarnation, taking part in a war so old that neither side remembers what they're fighting anymore.
We(l)come Back centers on Mali and Tessa, who have lived hundreds of lives in this struggle. This time around, Mali has awoken as the directionless, college-aged daughter of a notorious serial killer and begins to question everything, especially why she continues to fight. Meanwhile, a determined Tessa has no such qualms as she's already on the hunt for her opponent, leaving a trail of bodies in her wake.

“Reincarnation fiction has always been rich with storytelling possibilities and world-building. When Chris brought us We(l)come Back we were incredibly excited with a fresh, innovative take on this genre,” said BOOM! Studios President of Publishing and Marketing Filip Sablik. “Jonathan’s art is just the perfect complement for this story—equal parts gritty, expressive, and detailed. We(l)come Back is the complete package.”
The idea of reincarnation is something that dates back thousands of years and for good reason. It's pretty friggin' interesting. We(l)come Back seems to put a unique spin on it and I'm curious as to how it will be explored. Plus, I love the way they did the title. Very clever.
The first issue of the four-issue mini-series will be released in August and will retail for $3.99. It will feature a main cover by series artist Jonathan Brandon Sawyer, a limited quantity Jackpot variant cover by James Harvey, a 10 Years incentive variant cover by Rob Guillory, and a retailer incentive cover by Elsa Charretier. It is currently available for pre-order.
