This June, DC Comics launches a new horror imprint, aptly called DC Horror. The first title under this imprint, The Conjuring: The Lover serves as a prelude to the upcoming film, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, set for release in theaters and HBO Max on Friday, June 4th. Check out an early preview of the first issue of the series from writers Daniel Johnson-McGoldrick and Rex Ogle and artist Garry Brown.

Jessica soon comes to realize that something evil has made her its target, and it will not rest until it has her in its unholy grip. But why did this sinister presence set its sights on a seemingly normal college freshman?

"It's something that is scary, something that is good fun and something that kind of leaves you really kind of crawling underneath your skin," said co-writer Rex Ogle in an exclusive interview for SyFy.com.

The Conjuring: The Lover will also feature backup stories that explore the mysteries of the dreaded artifact room of Ed and Lorraine Warren from The Conjuring films. The first issue has a story from artist Scott Snyder and artist Denys Cowan.

The Conjuring: The Lover #1 is set for release on June 1st, 2021.
